Hickory Bend students look forward to the end of the year for many reasons. One of the biggest reasons is Field Day, and this school year was no exception. Mrs. Burras has been working hard to organize a fun-filled day for HB students that promotes physical fitness. This year's Field Day consisted of seven stations: Egg Hunt, Fire Bucket Relay, Obstacle Course, Cup Relay, Snack Break, Laundry Relay and Basketball Relay. Students rotated through each station while being coached by a HB staff member.
Field Day was held on May 25, 2007. Sadly, the weather on that Friday morning did not cooperate. The first and second grade students were not able to participate in the scheduled Field Day activities, although they were treated to a movie in our "HB movie theater", a room that is usually used as a gymnasium. The first and second grade students did a great job of showing good sportsmanship during the afternoon when many classes went outside to cheer on the third and fourth graders participating in Field Day stations.
All HB students were asked to wear school colors and many students wearing red, white and blue clothing were part of Field Day. The third and fourth graders were asked to exhibit many character traits learned throughout the year while participating in the Field Day fun, such as cooperation, teamwork, and patience. All staff and students had a great time and really enjoyed the competition. Mrs. Burras presented awards to all participants. Thank you to all staff, students, parents and especially the Queen of Field Day, Mrs. Burras, for making Field Day 2007 a success.
