Space Projects Out of this World!

As a culminating activity for our solar system unit, fourth grade students completed a space project. Students were assigned topics ranging from the Sun to meteoroids to space stations. There were three components to the project. The first was a project sheet, which asked students several questions regarding their space project. The second was a 3-D representation of their topic. The third part was an oral presentation, where students discussed both their topic and showed off their model.
Students did a wonderful job with their projects, and many talked how it became a family learning experience. During presentations, students really began to understand what had been read about in the science books. All of the teachers were very impressed with the creativity many students put into their project.
