Welcome to
Mrs. Gajewski’s Class
I am very happy to be starting another exciting
and successful school year with our wonderful
Hickory Bend ALL-STARS!
I hope the following information regarding school work and behavior expectations
will be helpful to you as we start a new year together.
| This Week's Newsletter |
Homework
At the start of each week your child will bring home a newsletter explaining the skills we will be working on in all subject areas, as well as reminders about events coming up at school. There will also be some homework assignments attached to the newsletter. Please complete the assignments with you child before the end of the week. Your child will be rewarded for their hard work. The homework assignments are very helpful to reinforce what has been taught at school, and to teach responsibility. Thank you in advance for all of your hard work!
Rules and
Rewards
There are 3 very simple and
extremely important rules
for our team of All-Stars:
1. Be Respectful.
2. Be Responsible.
2. Be Safe.
We have discussed in great detail how important it is for us to be kind and encouraging each other, respect all the materials in our classroom, come to school each day with a great attitude, work together as a team, and be in control of ourselves at all times!
I use a behavior chart to communicate with parents on a daily basis and track student behavior. Every day all students begin the day on GREEN.
Each child will be given a verbal warning if they are not following our team rules. If another correction is needed, then I will change the student’s color on our chart to BLUE. In order to teach the children responsibility and accountability, I expect them to explain to their parents why they have had their color changed to blue.
If further corrections are needed, the child’s color will be changed to YELLOW. I will send a home communicator that will need to be signed and returned. If your child receives 3 home communicators, your child will be referred to the principal. As a consequence, the child may miss the opportunity to participate in small group activities until I am able to trust them to be respectful, responsible and safe in our classroom.
The last “step” on our behavior chart is RED. If the student is still making poor decisions after being on yellow, their color will be changed to red. I will send a home communicator and make a phone call home. As a consequence, the child will miss the opportunity to participate in small group activities and recess for one week or until I able to trust them to be respectful, responsible and safe in our classroom.
Hooray!
I’m on Green today!
Let’s go green! Each day your child earns a green they will receive one “ALL-STAR BUCK” dollar. Our class store opens on the last day of each month, and every child will have the opportunity to spend their money! Be sure to ask your child how much money they have!
I always love to hand out extra bucks when students are making me proud! HINT! HINT!
Let’s try our best to be Hickory Bend All Stars everyday!
