Be Aware...Be Prepared!

Mrs. Brunner taught students about poisons.

Hickory Bend students are faced with poisoning hazards on a daily basis. To celebrate Poison Prevention month, Mrs. Brunner came to Hickory Bend on March 24 and gave presentations to all students on poisoning dangers in the home and what to do if you suspect someone has been poisoned.

Anyone can call the Poison Center if they have a question or concern about a potential poisoning situation. Students could be heard chanting the phone number in the HB Learning Center. 1-800-222-1222 Parents can also visit the Illinois Poison Center website and sign up for a FREE Poison Prevention newsletter as well as play games with their children.

We encourage parents and students to look around your home and identify poisonous substances. Remember, even things like make-up can be poisonous! Keep all poisonous substances and medication out of reach. More information on Poisoning Prevention can also be found on the Risk Watch website.
