BJHS Quest
7th Grade Student, New Student and Parent Orientation
By Bethany Lindsay
On Thursday, August 20, 2009, the faculty and staff of Brookwood Junior High School hosted the junior high “Quest” program. This program was designed to help prepare students for their first days of school. By inviting students to the junior high before the new school year starts, we can greatly help reduce any anxiety students may be feeling. This program also provided students an opportunity to ask questions as well as become familiar with our teachers and building staff.
“Quest” also consists of a parent orientation. Parents were able to
visit the classrooms and school facilities as well as ask questions
and receive information about school programs and activities for
their child.
There were 100
parents and students in attendance!
The following staff members helped us make this program a success:
Ms. Walsh, Ms. Paluch, Mr. Lagger, Ms. Shedwell, Ms. Baker, Mr.
Rumbaugh, Mr. Moehlig, Mr. Chapin, Mr. Moore, Mr. Malone, Ms.
Fourte, Ms. Mitchell, Ms. Larson, Ms. Seals, Mr. Meyer, Mr. Betts,
Ms. Romano, Ms. Staffel, and Ms. Scott.
This program, now in its 9th year, was an overwhelming success.
Programs such as "Quest" are responsive to student needs and will
help make the transition to the junior high a smooth one.
