Parent Teacher Association

Greetings from the 2009-2010 PTA Board

We are so proud to report great news from last year, and hope this school term will be equally exciting and productive. With the approval of the our Superintendent, Parents, Teachers, and Community, we intend to support programs that speak on behalf of children and youth in the schools, and provide information that could assist parents in making positive decisions that could positively affect their children.

The theme for this year is: “Together we can build strong futures”. This year, we will continue to support PBIS Programs (Positive Behavior Incentive Systems) in each school, and hope to receive a wish list from the Principals that will direct us on how we can help. We will continue to provide funding for water and mints during ISAT and would be honored to support programs that recognizes and encourages excellence.

We hope you will attend the PTA General Meetings this year, as the content is intended to provide information that is valuable and informative. We also hope you will continue to support the Market Day and Cookie Dough Fundraisers, as the funds are used to support activities that directly benefit our children, as outlined above and illustrated below.

Finally, each class is encouraged to participate in a PTA sponsored Reflections Program this year. Reflections is a Cultural Arts National PTA Program formed to encourage acknowledgement of special talents. Each Principal will be asked to incorporate the Reflections Program in each class’ curriculum, and submit the projects to the PTA Board to be reviewed by the Library Board. Each student will receive a certificate of participation, and could qualify for special recognition at an advanced level. We hope to receive over 400 entries this year, invite all parents to attend the March PTA Meeting where we will recognize the children that participated. The theme for this year is “Beauty is…”. Projects can be submitted through their class in writing, film or art form.

We look forward to working with you and invite you to join us at any time. We hope the PTA Membership will continue to grow, and anticipate more interaction from our Parents and Teachers during this term. We are pleased to report 100% Teacher and Staff participation at the Junior High and welcome all of the other schools to match their efforts. The PTA Membership is $5.00. You may contact our PTA President, Melinda Plott, if you are interested in helping with any of our projects. She can be reached at 708-334-6052 or via email at melindaplott@comcast.net.

Thank you for your support.
