Dear Brookwood School District 167 Staff, Parents and Community:
The National Weather Service has issued a Winter Storm Watch for the Chicago metro area from Friday morning into Saturday morning. Following that, arctic temperatures will arrive by Sunday and into early next week, with highs in the single digits and lows below zero.
Due to the Winter Storm Watch, we have been monitoring the weather conditions expected within the next 24 hours.
The forecast is predicting dangerous conditions for Friday, January 12th, 2024.
Out of an abundance of caution and as a proactive measure, our district will implement an e-Learning day for Friday, January 12th, 2024. This includes the cancellation of all before and after school care programs, extracurricular activities and sporting events.
Many factors are carefully considered when deciding to close our schools.
This includes the safety and well-being of our students and staff, the severity of the weather, the timing of the weather-related events, and the walking and driving conditions for our students, staff, and bus drivers.
By using e-Learning days, we will not have to make up the days at the end of the school year.
Teachers will provide instruction remotely using Google Classroom and Google Meet and will be accessible for virtual office hours during their plan period for the day.
All students are expected to access their classroom remotely at 8:30 a.m. If a parent is experiencing technical difficulty, they will email their child’s teacher or the Tech Help Desk at helpdesk@brookwood167.org
We are off of school on Monday, January 15th due to the Dr. Martin Luther King State Holiday. We are looking to come back to in-person learning, Tuesday, January 16th.
