HAPPY HOLIDAYS!

Brookwood Junior High School is Engaging All Students
in a Holiday Gift Giving Activity

Sometimes students seem too focused on the “gimme” elements of the holiday season. We want students to learn about the true meaning of the season by emphasizing the giving over the getting. Getting caught up in the commercialism of the holidays is easy — but we want to remind students that holiday time is as much about giving as it is about getting. It is important that we share that giving unselfishly can generate good feelings students will carry with them for a lifetime!   Better to give than to receive, gift-giving is also an act of altruism — unselfish concern for the well-being of others. When we give without expecting anything in return, we are improving our psychological health.  Every student at BJHS will be making a craft and writing cards to give to a loved one(s) or community member on December 18, 2015.  We look forward to this activity and we know our students will find the value in giving this holiday season.

Gift Of Giving – Poem by Lyn Paul

Open your eyes
Open your heart
Give just a little
You will get such a lot
Let the sunshine in
Even when there is rain
The warmth of your heart
Will warm someone elses
Two hands are better than one
One opened heart
Will welcome two warm hands
Open your heart
Love is not just romance
Love is… loving who you are
To love life
To love to give
Our journey in life
Is to open those eyes
Feel the beauty in your heart
Give the gift
The gift of giving
