This has been an ongoing goal for the district. We have provided numerous staff development workshops on a district and school level to provide training to assist teachers with the alignment of the common core standards to their school curriculum. We have also provided a summer seminar with STI to provide teacher training around the common core curriculum and alignment along with Institute Day Training and teacher work in small teams.

Teachers recently completed pacing guides after their work this past summer with STI and shared all of the pacing guides with the entire staff.

The superintendent, recently assigned the Interim Director of Special Education to work with the Special Services (Special Education) Department and staff to revamp the current RTi Program and to revise it with a better program, which is in draft, form and attached. We recently added a new tier 3 reading program to assist teachers with reading referred to as Read 180 and System 44.

The Special Services Department should be commended for their weeks of meeting and hard work around creating the new RTi model.

The superintendent has worked with the staff in development and creation of the “Student Growth Model” which is new to the district and required by the state board. This initiative included providing the entire staff with numerous workshops around writing teacher created assessments and student growth. This goal was successfully created in a collaborative manner with the staff and Teacher union. The superintendent also arranged for several workshops off campus to get the PERA Committee acclimated to understand the necessary legal assessment components to include in the teacher created assessments.

STI further assisted with the task of providing professional development for teachers to create pacing guides and teacher created assessments.

Goal Status: This goal has been achieved but will still need work to constantly implement and update on an ongoing and continuous level each year. It is an ongoing goal to assist with student achievement.
