Dear Brookwood School District 167 Staff and Family Members:
School will be CLOSED on Wednesday January 7, 2015 due to dangerous Wind chill factors.

The weather is forecasted to be -5 to 0 for actual high and Wind Chill to -35. There is a Wind chill warning that goes into effect tonight through tomorrow. It is as dangerously cold as it was that first week of January last year. We will be a little warmer Thursday although we will start the morning at about -15 degrees. The windshield won’t be such a big issue on this upcoming Thursday.

The Big concern is frostbite for any of our students or employees waiting at bus stops or walking to school. At this time we have 471 walkers and frostbite can set in at Wind chills of -35 as quickly as 10 minutes.

My secondary concern would be any possible pipes bursting over the next few days and tomorrow Wednesday, January 7, 2015 will be the worst day.

Thursday morning will be bitterly cold; but it will warm up above zero and the Windchill won’t be as bad on this Thursday.

All principals, central office, school secretaries, school clerks, contractual special services, and custodians are required to report to work on tomorrow, Wednesday, January 7, 2015. The buildings will open at 10:30 a.m. Custodians should report to work at their regularly scheduled times due to weather concerns.

We will see you on Thursday. Stay warm and most importantly, Safe.

Best,
Dr. Valorie Moore
Brookwood School District 167
