Dear Board Members:
Due to the numerous accomplishments that I have achieved since coming to the Brookwood School District as superintendent, I am asking for a retro pay raise of 10% for the 2014-15 school year and for 10% increase in pay for the 2015-16 school year.
In addition to bringing numerous improvements, academically, financially, programmatic, facilities, technological and environmentally, I have worn numerous hats including overseeing special education, curriculum, staff development and technology while performing my duties at the same time efficiently. Without a doubt, I have been dedicated in achieving goals and work beyond the school day to ensure the business and work of the district is efficiently handled on behalf of the Board and in the best interest of our students, staff and community.
My improvements to the Brookwood School District include:
- Improved academic achievement by at least 10% in all buildings
- School district is visited by other school districts to see our highly regarded STEM Program
- Saved the district 85,000 in energy bills commencing in the Fall, 2015.
- Maintained financial stability through long-term projections, strategic financial planning, and responsible spending
- Balanced the budget
- Rehired all teachers released due to a budget deficit
- Assisted with writing grant to fund Pre-School, Title I and II
- Implemented the process to move forth with the Brookwood Middle School Design and Construction and that had stalled for a period of time
- Ensured that the Board hired high quality real estate attorneys
- Bridged the title challenges between the Village of Glenwood and Board of Education
- Handled all school emergencies and challenges efficiently
- Kept the Board of Education informed of all business
- Oversaw all schools efficiently
- Problem solved for all schools from a collaborative stand point
- Highly visible at evening events
- Established working relationships with community and community partners
- Worked on a State level with the Illinois State Board of Education in the handling of district curriculum, business, and finances
- Ensures that all grants are completed for state review before deadlines

- Student Academic Growth exceeded the Illinois State Average in the areas of Reading and Mathematics for Longwood Elementary School
- 18% increase in the percentage of students meeting or exceeding state standards in the area of mathematics at Longwood Elementary School

- Lighting Replacement Work at Various Schools

- Asphalt and Parking Lot work at Hickory Bend Elementary

- The District will be replacing the exterior lighting at all of the schools this summer except for Brookwood Middle School
- The new LED Exterior Lights will use approximately 1/8 the electricity of the old sodium halides and last 20 times as long
- The District received an Energy Efficiency Grant that will cover 50% of the cost of the project
- The Estimated budget is $228,000
- The West side of the roof at BJHS will be replaced this summer
- The current roof that is on the building is beyond its expected life
- The new roof will ensure that the building stays water tight and that the building remains sound
- The Estimated budget is $386,000
- Asphalt will be replaced at Hickory Bend in the parking lot.
- Once the parking lot is replaced the new asphalt will be striped and lined for both parking and for kids play areas
- The District received a grant from the Illinois State Board of Education in matching funds to cover part of the cost of the project up to $50,000
- The Estimated total budget is $273,000
